I don’t remember when I stopped wanting to be an astronaut. It was my dream for most of my childhood. I thought it was the coolest job ever. I mean I still do. Imagine going into space. The new frontier. That’s an experience that most people won’t get. I guess as I learned that being an astronaut was a difficult job that is demanding for your intellect as well as your physical body, the job became less attractive. As I gradually learned more about the job, including the physical requirements and gruesome training, my fantasy of floating in space gradually diminished.
I think learning bits about the academic side of astronomy and physics has rekindled this childhood fantasy of mine. The calculations and nuances are so interesting to me and whooooo knowwwwws? maybe I’ll go to space one day 🙂
